Like anyone who waited for this since the announcement that Joss Whedon would be directing this, we went to see it the day it came out. It was great and awesome and cleverer, funnier and more heart-felt than your typical comic book movie (though there have been quite a few good ones lately). Having said all of that, it feels like it’s being made out as one of the best films to ever exist and that’s just a bit of an overstatement. Don’t get me wrong, it deserves all the great things it gets, and I’m so so happy for Whedon that he finally gets some recognition beyond Buffy, but there were parts when it was obvious that his wasn’t the final say in the film and it’s just not the masterpiece everyone is trying to make it. I’ll be getting it on DVD as soon as it’s out and come the sequel, I will be there on opening night once again, but people. You seem to forget that there’s another, more original Whedon film out this year and I’m tired of it being ignored for the sake of this one. 8/10
